FTiL’s Partnership with Norwood and Brixton Foodbank

FTiL has formed a partnership with Norwood and Brixton Foodbank, which has two distribution centres in Lambeth, at St. Luke’s Church, West Norwood and St. Paul’s Church, Brixton, and which is part of a nation-wide network of foodbanks linked to the Trussel Trust. The aim of the foodbanks is to provide a minimum of 3 days’ worth of emergency food to those experiencing a crisis; and to support them by making time for them and signposting them to other helpful services. About 60,000 people were helped in this way, last year.

FTiL Individual Members can help with the collection of food from the public at supermarkets or with the sorting and distribution of food.

FTiL Member Organisations can participate in 3 ways:

  1. Providing volunteers to help with the collection, sorting and distribution of food;
  2. Organising the donation of food and other items that are on the shopping list; and
  3. Becoming recognised as a frontline organisation that is authorised to issue food vouchers to people it has identified as being in need and experiencing a crisis. A voucher can be taken to a foodbank distribution centre where it can be redeemed for three days emergency food.
